As a board member of Long Beach Public Library Foundation, I thank you for your past support and encourage approval of our $25,000 request in support of Grapes Expectations, our signature fundraising event. In our 25th year and the 125th anniversary of our public library, we are raising funds to retain staff at Family Learning Centers in each of our libraries. These dedicated people assist adults in job searches and children with homework. They are needed now more than ever.

The Long Beach Public Library Foundation thanks the Harbor Commission for their generosity to the community. The Port of Long Beach’s sponsorship of our work supports educational and connectivity resources that are crucial to families, students, and job seekers. Your approval of increased funding for community organizations, at a time when many of us are struggling to fundraise, will help thousands get their lives and livelihoods back on track.

The pandemic has hit the budgets of many Long Beach non-profits and has caused a great deal of hardship for the communities those non-profits serve. I wholeheartedly support approving the $396,450 in sponsorship requests so organizations can continue to do their amazing work. Your support has meant so much to the people we serve and in these challenging times, your continued support will mean so much more.
