I implore this Commission to rethink their commitment to bringing SpaceX to Long Beach. As a Black, queer, disabled woman born and raised here, this would be a regressive move for the city and its most marginalized citizens. To publicly accept SpaceX's money is to publicly accept & endorse the values that company, its owner, and its shareholders stand for, which are antithetical to everything Long Beach is as a community. I suspect this is why this deal was made covertly, and we deserve better.
Get SpaceX out of Long Beach! We have enough garbage in our water already, we don’t need a billionaire nazi polluting us even more. Do you want to swim in or eat fish from water polluted with rocket fuel? What will you do when Elon’s rocket pieces fall on your home or your child’s school? Falling debris rained down over Florida and the Caribbean after his rockets exploded. Are we trying to be like Florida? Is this the standard we have for LB? Do better!
I'm Nic, a scientist and a concerned citizen. I’m calling for a full environmental review and independent audits of SpaceX.
The lease was approved with no public input or proper transparency. Elon Musk’s companies have a track record of pollution, labor abuses, and disregard for community values. Long Beach should not support corporations that operate in secrecy and put our health, environment, and democracy at risk. Thank you for your consideration.
Ny name is Ashlie, I am one of the co-founders of The Feminist Uprising. I urge the Harbor Commission to terminate SpaceX’s lease at the Port. The deal was made behind closed doors, with no public input or full environmental review. SpaceX poses serious risks to our health, environment, and values. Elon Musk’s companies have a record of pollution, labor abuse, Sexual assault, and anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric. Long Beach must not support corporations that harm our communities and operate in secrecy.
